Hold onto your memes, this is not a drill. Developer Larian Studios has announced that the new major patch 9 will soon be hitting turn-based party-centered cRPG Baldur’s Gate 3. New content will be live before the end of 2022, accompanied by a murder-fueled Panel From Hell!
For those worried about the full release of the game, the team has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 is on track for a 2023 release with more news coming this December. The developers still play close attention to play feedback and continue polishing the game.
“In the Community Update accompanying that Panel From Hell, we’ll go into detail about some of the most discussed topics in the community. The good news is that we’re on track for release in 2023 – and we’ll have more on that in December. Acts 2 and 3 of the story are being actively playtested to ensure they’re up to the same level of polish and you’ll soon discover that there’s much more in the works (or already complete) than what you’ll encounter in an Early Access playthrough. Our goal is for even the players who have repeated Act 1 over and over again for hundreds of hours to feel like there’s a whole new experience in store for them at launch.”
What can we possibly expect from Patch 9? To have a clear idea of what a major BG3 patch entails, let’s take a look at Patches 6 through 8.
- Patch 6: Forging the Arcane introduced new Grymforge region, the Sorcerer class with two unique subclasses Wild Magic and Draconic Bloodline; new weapon actions, massive graphical overhaul and much more.
- Patch 7: Absolute Frenzy added a new Barbarian Class with two Subclasses – Berserker and Wildheart in addition to HUD UI overhaul, brand-new Character Sheets, search filters, Thrown Weapons, new music & animations.
- Patch 8: Of Valour and Lore expanded the class options of the game with Bard, with its own unique subclasses – College of Valour and College of Lore. Additionally, players got new race: Gnomes, Swarm AI, hair upgrades, improved multiplayer stability and more.
