Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, the classic Dungeons & Dragons adventure game, launches on PC today.
Way back in ye olde times of 2001, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance began a quest across Xbox and PlayStation. Now the iconic action RPG is finally coming to PC, just a few years later. Hitting the Steam, GoG, and Epic storefronts today, Dark Alliance is a revival of a much loved fantasy title where players delve into the heart of Faerûn, a region known in D&D as the homeland of ancient elves. What awaits is an engaging romp across this realm, taking on challenges and unravelling the mysteries that lie ahead.
Dark Alliance features a total of three customizable heroes, each of which has its own playstyle and powers, with 11 rendered spells on offer to tackle a range of potential problems across three massive acts. Each of these acts must be taken, in turn, progressing from the dungeons beneath Baldur’s Gate up into the Burning Eye Mountain. You’ll need to defend against and dodge attacks, evade deadly traps, and actively adapt to more than 40 different types of monsters and boss battles, including a giant Gelatinous Cube.
Even if it does seem dangerous to go alone, players picking up Dark Alliance won’t have to. This new port includes co-op gameplay via Steam Remote Play and local co-op, so pen and paper aren’t the only festive option on the table. While this isn’t cutting edge D&D, it marks a welcome port for fans of the Baldur’s Gate franchise and an option to try out a much loved adventure and prep before you jump into Baldur’s Gate 3. You can grab Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance today on Steam, GoG, and Epic for $29.99 or local equivalent.
