At the beginning of November, Battlefield V Multiplayer Producer David Sirland had participated in an interview with DTF.ru where he discussed a number of interesting questions. Of particular note are those dedicated to the prostheses and USSR faction.
A couple of questions were dedicated to the hotly debated topic of prostheses in the game. David Sirland answered that the game never actually featured those – they only remained in the first hotly debated trailer of the game. It is incredibly hard to work out weapon animation with prostheses instead of hands.
It was not done simply for the PR purposes but rather was one of many ideas that didn’t work out and didn’t make it into the final version of the game.
Another question was dedicated to the topic of USSR being present in the game. Sirland answered that the tech and weaponry of USSR will be present for sure as the company wishes for all major participants of the WWII to be included in the game. However, DICE is unsure how to include USSR in the game because USSR changed their side at least once in the war.
This particular answer caused a lot of unhappiness with fans reaching directly to Sirland in Twitter about his response with hashtag ApologizeForUSSR. He later clarified to DTF that he meant it was not easy to place USSR in the conflict between the Allied Forces and the Axis. The country definitely deserves its own faction given its influence on the events of the war. In his head, it sounded like a big compliment to players expecting to see USSR in the game and he could have expressed the thought more clearly. He sincerely wants to show USSR in the game in the right way – and nothing else.
Thanks for being a civil internet citizen :). I speak from a gameplay standpoint here mainly, I think it would be a waste not to have a full specific faction with unique hardware for the USSR instead of incorporation into the existing as that means mixing vehicles etc.

- The developers have introduced certain changes to the balance of the game by giving players more ammunition and a first aid kit on a revival
- The version of the game that is about to release can be considered as “Vanilla”. Developers will add more modes and possibilities to it over time, like Firestorm mode. It is possible there will be a hardcore mode.
- Tides of War will allow the team to concentrate the players’ attention on a specific challenge at a time. The events introduced for limited-time will go through a few iterations to give players the best experience by taking out the excess.
- If players show interest, some limited-time events might become permanent additions to the game.
- Battle Royale is a big trend both for DICE and their competitors and it is hard to ignore. Especially when many elements of the game already work with this mode – big maps, long-distance weapons, destructible surroundings, teams and much more.
- With the season pass, the developers spent a lot of time making content for a smaller audience. It was a problem due to the season pass splitting the audience: with each new DLC, fewer players were returning to the game.
- In BFV, without the season pass, the team will be able to create more high-quality products for the entirety of the game’s audience.
- Post-launch content for BFV is a mix of harsh schedule and improvization. The developers have already set some goals but they also will be creating and changing things according to the latest trends and what is happening in the industry.
- The roadmap will be updated every month.
Battlefield V is currently available to the subscribers of Origin Access Premier, Origin Access and EA Access.
The owners of the Deluxe Edition can hop into the game on November 15. The full release of the game happens on November 20.
