Star Wars: Battlefront 2 – Microtransactions Are Temporarily Disabled

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been under a lot of fire recently with Early Access users discovering that it would take anywhere from 20 to 40 hours of gameplay to unlock a single character unless you’re willing to spend a hefty sum on loot boxes.  A quick cut to the costs of all heroes and Reddit AMA held by the developers did not manage to placate agitated gamers after the damage was already done.

Now EA is temporarily disabling all microtransactions in the game in an attempt to figure how to proceed onward. There is a special blog post dedicated to this pre-launch update that you can find on the official site.

We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.
