Explosm, the folks behind the wildly popular internet comic Cyanide & Happiness, has announced that Master Dater is the next game in the works. The “social-judging card game” is targeting a crowdfunding initiative via Gamefound and working towards a Q4 2022 release date. The game can be preordered through Gamefound for $25.
Finally, it’s time to give Cyanide & Happiness fans what they have been asking for since childhood: love, from literally anyone. Become the one and only, Sexiest Single, in all the land (for at least one round) and watch the suitors line up to pander their hearts out for said Single’s affection. The rest of the group each combine one Head Card, one Body Card, and a really good verbal argument to convince the Sexy Single to award one of their Interest Cards to potential paramours.
Other features include:
- create combos like Dweebus Chris, Santa Satan, or a Giant Eyeball Who Stabs Eyes
- collect five Interest Cards, and one from Love, Flame, and Spark to win and become the Master Dater
The press announcement for the game features some interesting commentary on the state of gaming today. According to the development team, the community comes first. As a result, several partnerships have come along that have been rejected due to the ability to take advantage of supporters. This includes NFT offers, blockchain tech, etc. “The team is not a fan of the environmental impact of NFTs and blockchain tech as well as the rampant issues with art and IP theft that go along with it.”
