Gears of War 4 will be getting its biggest update ever on June 6th. It comes just in time for a 10-hour free trial coming from June 9-15. XBox One and Windows 10 players will be able jump in and try out everything, new content included, during those dates.
Gears of War 4’s biggest update ever is Rise of the Horde
Rise of the Horde will see a huge shake up to game play including 15 new Horde skills, Level 6 skills, Loot drops, tuning changes and brand new difficulty modes.
The new skills, appropriately called “Horde skills”, give players new ways to specialize. For instance, the Scout has a new ability called Cloak to become invisible. Heavies have the Berserker and Last Stand skills to provide additional damage the lower their health is. Snipers get Magic Bullet for extra power on head shots.
Current skills can be ramped up to Level 6 as well to make them even more powerful than before.
Boss battles will become even more enticing with random Horde Skills dropping at waves 30, 40 and 50. The harder the fight, the rarer the chance is for an epic drop.
There are new difficulty levels as well including Inconceivable and Ironman. Inconceivable is, believe it or not, a step up from Insane with both you and your enemies having lower health pools. Every shot will need to count, too, as crate drops and weapons have a lot less ammo.
Ironman is, as the name implies, boiled down to one thing: Don’t die. If you do, all progress is erased and it’s back to the beginning.

- 2 new maps, Avalanche and Rust Lung
