Developer Bioware took to the official site to share new details about the upcoming fantasy RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard. When corrupt gods break free from centuries of darkness, the odds will be stacked against you. You can’t do this alone. Rally a team of seven companions, each with rich lives and deep backstories.
These are characters to befriend, and even fall in love with. Among them, an assassin, a necromancer, and a detective will each bring their own expertise and unique abilities to the fight. You are never alone; decide who to take into battle and together face down demons, dragons and even ancient gods.
The developers previously revealed the epic voice actor cast that gifted their talents to the companions and the game’s protagonist, Rook. You can find out more here.
“Companions have always been such a big part of this franchise,” Creative Director John Epler asserted at one point during the panel. “You’ll navigate some of the most compelling individual storylines you’ve seen from BioWare. I’m really excited about the bonds players will form.” Creative Performance Director Ashley Barlow later added, “I feel like you can fall in love with any of them. Everyone that has touched this project has put a piece of their heart into it and into all of the different characters you could cross paths with. I know for me at times, in the companion stories, it seemed like I was watching a scene out of my own life. It’s a powerful feeling to have something or someone to relate to on screen.”
The blog post is full of new, juicy details about the companions that will fight the new threats to Thedas alongside you. From the unexpected humor of Lucanis to Neve, the cynic with a heart of gold, to scholarly necromancer Emmrich. But the thing that immediately grabbed our attention was the promise of new information coming soon! Note that the original blog post was shared on July 31st, making August the promised “next month”.
