Blood Bowl 3, the latest skull-cracking edition of this unusual sporting franchise, is set to kick off a closed beta in early 2021.
NACON and Cyanide have confirmed that the orc wielding sports sim that spends as much time breaking bones as scoring goals is almost upon us. Before players can take to the pitch to cause carnage in Blood Bowl 3, they’ll get a chance to try out their tactics in a closed beta test in early 2021. Access to the third Blood Bowl beta is due to unlock through a variety of promotions, although we only know that players pre-ordering the title will secure a spot in the final line up.
Extra Time
Due to hit PC and console sometime in 2021, Blood Bowl 3 is yet another instalment in the brutally fun Warhammer IP. Taking traditional turn-based strategies and sporting sims to the digital stage isn’t all that unusual an idea but when the game in question takes the lead from a classic Warhammer boardgame then things are going to look a little different. Featuring elves, humans, orcs and other creatures from the Warhammer universe, Blood Bowl 3 finds participants fighting for the ball and competing for glory with shoulder charges, kicks, punches and weapons of varying degrees of lethality (and legality by the ref). As your team take to the field and dish out punishment you’ll hinder the progress of your opponents by positioning them in your tackle zone, knock down those who get in your way, and break through to your opponents’ end zone to score a touchdown!
Blood Bowl 3 looks set to be and update to the franchise that should bring new rulesets, extra content, and upgraded graphics. Of course, there is still going to be plenty of gore too. As one of the more impressive Warhammer properties on digital storefronts, although slightly more tongue in cheek than games like Vermintide and Total War: Warhammer, we’re plenty excited to get on the field when the Blood Bowl 3 beta kicks off next year.
