Sharkmob unveiled Blood Hunt at last night’s Summer Games Fest and it’s a Vampire: The Masquerade battle royale.
For anybody who thought that the mountainous list of massive multiplayer shooters in the battle royale genre couldn’t possibly get any bigger, Sharkmob proved otherwise last night. The Swedish development studio unveiled a brand-new title in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe that takes the traditionally table-top RPG settings of this universe and plunges players into a stylized battle royale game mode. This free to play blood battle will arrive on PC later this year, taking a bite out of Close Alpha on 2 July.
A Bloody Good Time
Anybody who takes part in the Blood Hunt will find themselves on the ground as vampire clans clash among the cities of man. Playing as one of these mystical creatures, you’ll go head to head with other opponents, just as strike-teams from the Second Inquisition arrive in town. While you battle for territory and survival, you’ll use a range of supernatural abilities to undo your opponents aspirations of survival and eliminate the hunters that make their way through the old town of Prague.
There’s no denying the fact that Blood Hunt looks fantastic, and the idea of navigating Prague with the speed and agility of a vampire sounds exciting enough to give this a look. Sharkmob are noting that while this is free to play, there won’t be any pay to win mechanics and the game was developed in close collaboration with the World of Darkness brand team, meaning fans of the tabletop should be familiar with this setting.
Let’s just hope that when it arrives, this foray into the World of Darkness franchise manages to stand out from the crowd of gun totting chicken dinners and spell slingers, and manages to claim its own stake in the market.
