Bone up on the Charleston as Heroes of the Storm goes to the 20s

Heroes of the Storm

Almost a century has passed since the 1920s, but that doesn’t stop Blizzard Entertainment from providing Heroes of the Storm players with a blast from the past. It’s time to bone up on those Charleston dancing lessons and get ready for what appears to be a new event coming to HotS in the coming weeks.

UPDATE: The HotS YouTube channel has been updated with the following video & description of “The Scarlet Heist”:

New Tirisfal City. A town where every cop is on the take and every crook pays their dues. From her penthouse suite atop the Scarlet Monastery Casino, Whitemane runs the largest criminal empire this side of Tirisfal. There isn’t a deal that gets made, a job that gets pulled, a scam that gets run without Whitemane giving her blessing and getting her cut. Until now.

Sick of answering to the Scarlet Mafia, Orphea has recruited Junkrat and Bama “the Hammer” Kowalski into a gang of her own… one that doesn’t owe anything to Whitemane. Just one problem: every criminal organization needs a slush fund. Thankfully, Orphea knows just where to get theirs. The Scarlet Monastery acquires mountains of moola on a nightly basis, coming from every patsy on the floor right into the casino’s vault. It’s the ultimate score, in more ways than one. Sure, the money is one thing… but getting away with robbing from Whitemane herself? Well, that’ll just let everyone know that there’s a new mob in town.

Orphea’s plan is simple: she grabs the safe while Junkrat brings the firepower and Bama provides the getaway. Whitemane would never expect anyone to be bold (or stupid) enough to steal from the Scarlet Mafia. And that’s the best thing that Orphea’s crew has going for them.

Make no mistake, it’s gonna be a huge risk. They’ll be sleeping with the fishes if they get caught. But if there’s one thing this town’s taught Orphea, if you want to win, you gotta roll the dice.

ORIGINAL STORY – The event started being teased late last week and into this past weekend. It’s likely that, based on the images on the HotS Twitter, Hammer, Orphea, and Junkrat will be receiving new, themed skins. The action will take place in the “Scarlet Monastery Casino” and will doubtless provide players with months of activity to earn new sprays, emojis, mounts, and more.

Look for all the details this week, including when the new event will kick off. We’ll be keeping a sharp eye out and will post the details here. So 23 skidoo, folks, put on your dancin’ shoes, bob your hair, put on your flapper-wear, and get ready! We gotcha covered!

About Heroes of the Storm

HotS revolves around online 5-versus-5 matches, operated through Blizzard’s online gaming service Battle.net. Players can choose from different game modes, which include playing against computer-controlled heroes or other players. Initially, no heroes are permanently available for use; however, players may choose from a list of heroes that are free to use from a weekly rotation. By using gold coins, the in-game currency, or through microtransactions, they can gain permanent access to a hero. There are 86 heroes in the game as of May 2019, divided into six separate roles: Tank, Bruiser, Ranged Assassin, Melee Assassin, Healer, and Support. In addition, there are currently 15 maps available to play, each of which has different objectives to secure, with some having different victory conditions.
