Bounty Hunter PvP is coming back to Old School RuneScape.
Old School RuneScape players will probably want to sharpen their swords today when the Bounty Hunter mode returns to Gielinor. Anybody who remembers the original incarnation won’t need us to explain the chaos that’s about to ensue. For those of you that haven’t tried it out yet, Bounty Hunter is a PvP mini game with where you’ll battle for dominance in The Wilderness.
Originally debuting in 2007, this classic test of combat is set to return to the Jagex MMO in a revitalized form. While anybody ready to take the fight to their friends will still go head to head in a dedicated arena called The Crater, expect to see automated pairings. A new, quick matchmaking tool will be used to pair players with combatants of similar combat skill level so there will also be a fair fight. Once inside the designated combat zone, players are assigned a target. Competitors are rewarded with the target’s loot, as well as some extra emblems that can be exchanged for unique items.
Loot
Rewards include Statius’ Armour, Vesta’s Armour, Zuriel’s robes, as well as access to Ancient Warrior Weapons including Statius’ Warhammer, Vesta’s Longsword, Morrigan’s Throwing Axe and more. Some of these items can be imbued with special enchantments. If you happen across a Dark Bow, Dragon Mace, Dragon Longsword, or Abyssal Dagger these enhancements can boost their magics in the Bounty Hunter arena and give players a killer edge.
As if that isn’t enough, Jagex has confirmed that the Old School RuneScape team are aiming to add the first extra skill in a decade of old school gaming. Announced at the same time as the return of Bounty Hunter mode, the upcoming Sailing skill could give players an opportunity to grab a ship and get away on the ocean waves. The basics of this new skill are already well established. OSR has plenty of ships docked and the act of actually leaving port seems to be simple enough. Navigating the high seas, moving around, and other elements of this extensive skill are still in the refinement stage, so it’s not quite ready for a full launch yet. Even when it’s ready to go, a community lock in vote awaits so you’d be best inclined to give the full rundown your attention over at the official Old School RuneScape website now.
