Grab some wood and get ready to fly. Broomstick League is about to kick off and you’re going to need some practice. Independent developer & publisher Blue Isle Studios in partnership with Virtual Basement has announced a magical new game.

Unable to wait just a little later for Halloween, the team behind horror genre title Slender: The Arrival has confirmed that they are bringing Broomstick e-sports to the PC. Coming to Steam Early Access, Broomstick League is a fast-paced sports game with a difference. Perched atop a Witches traditional transport, players competing in the league will take to the sky in an effort to grab a magical orb, confound their opponents, and score goals.

Flying High

If it all sounds a bit Quidditch then you’d probably be right to point that out. House heads and avid Potterheads who don’t fancy the muggle version of the game should find this right up their Diagon Alley. Set around high rise arena, Broomstick League pits teams of 1, 2, 3, or 4 players against each other to come out victorious. You’ll be able to take on friends or simply matchmake from the online world of witches and wizardry.

It isn’t just about high flying maneuvers either. The added element of spellcasting makes for some intense action and excitement in Broomstick League. Whether players use a blink spell to teleport into position and the blast spell to knock the ball out of your opponent’s hands or simply stupify them, getting the ball in the goal is more than just a case of buying the best broom.

Come out of a match on top and the whole world can see who is wizard number one. A range of leaderboards already in place and character customization menus setup, so there should be no problem in standing out from the crowd. I’m not sure if that includes glasses and a scar, however. As players progress they will also be able to unlock new broomsticks, wands, and perform a variety of taunts to irritate opponents. Despite this, we’ve heard nothing about spectator modes quite yet. Instead, you’ll just have to make do with the trolls in row three.

Broomstick League is clearly flying high on this announcement and if you’ve been swept up in all the excitement then head over to the Steam page now and keep an eye out for further updates.
