Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta: First Impressions Multiplayer Gameplay

When you think of Call of Duty you think of zombies, you think of multiplayer matches, and you think of story. Well, you get all of those things except for a story in this new iteration of Treyarch and Activision’s creation. The multiplayer beta has been on for two weekends now and we were given the opportunity to test that part of the game out. Here is our first impressions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 MP Beta.

This past weekend I was provided the opportunity to take a crack at the multiplayer beta in Call of Duty Black Ops 4, and I went into this one very skeptical because of news I had heard about the game. Let me make you aware that I stopped playing Call of Duty multiplayer a long time ago because of the constant use of jump jets and wall running that made the game less fun for me. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this game is boots on the ground for the entire time. Armed with an assortment of main character avatars for your multiplayer pleasure, each of these characters has their own gear setup as well.

The beta arms you to the teeth with the most futuristic weapons and gear imaginable. Weapons like the Maddox-RFB Assault Rifle or the Titan Light Machine Gun will make your enemies tremble as you run around the map picking off your enemy. Gear like the K9 attack unit given to one of your characters, or the 9-Bang flash-bang grenades used by another, will keep the other team on their toes as they try to take you on in the fastest way possible for them. Aim down the iron sights or equip a trusty reflex site to your weapon and go to town in a variety of maps new to Black Ops 4.

Speaking of maps, there are a few returning game modes that you will be familiar with, modes like Control, Domination, Search and Destroy, my personal favorite is Team Deathmatch, and what would this new game be without a new mode, Heist. Heist is very reminiscent of CSGO in that you start the first round with a pistol and a little bit of cash to spend, you have to go through your matches and kill the enemy forces to earn money to upgrade your weapons and buy new items to take with you into battle. This is where I spent most of my time this weekend. This mode alone was worth the hours spent playing the game. We know from news reports that Black Ops 4 will also have a battle royale mode, but this was not shown at all during this beta outing. We will have to keep holding our breath to see this new mode and how they will handle it.

You will also have the chance to use your scorestreaks like other games as well. With returning favorites like the RC-XD bomb, the UAV, and the Hellfire Missile, you will have fun killing your enemy and then using that streak to take out him and his friends as they run around you. These streaks are a little harder to get but they are just as satisfying once you are able to get one.

Overall, we are basing these impressions on the multiplayer beta alone, and I can say that it was a fun ride while it lasted. I look forward to getting the full game in October when it releases. I will be taking full advantage of the modes talked about as well as ones that we don’t have any ideas about yet. The thing I play the most on these newer games is the zombie modes and this year looks bright for that mode as well. The game will be releasing for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. There are a myriad of options to purchase the game as well but the base price comes in at $59.99 USD like most of the games have been previously, and you can look for them at all retailers.
