Well, the rumors were true, Call of Duty is coming and it’s about to go back to its heyday. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is gunning for you on for gamers on 25 October.
Deploying on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the latest iteration to the Call of Duty franchise but it has plenty of new kit to boast about. Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, the new warfare simulator throws players into a brand new campaign. This massive narrative experience includes a heart racing, epic single-player story, plenty of multiplayer action, and new cooperative gameplay to keep players busy. As players progress through the game they should find playing with their friends much easier than in previous campaigns. Infinity Ward is instituting cross play and dropping the season pass DLC in an effort to unite gamers across their community.
“Every design decision has been made with our players in mind,” said Patrick Kelly, Creative Director and co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward. “With the launch of Modern Warfare, we’re taking steps to unite the community. First, we plan for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support. Second, we’re eliminating the traditional season pass, so that we can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players. This is just the beginning – there’s much more to come.”
Infinity Ward is also eager to talk about their own new arsenal. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is held up by a brand new engine which should provide an immersive and photorealistic experience. A blend of state of the art photogrammetry, a new hybrid tile-based streaming system, new PBR decal rendering system, world volumetric lighting, 4K HDR, DirectX Raytracing (PC) and more should make crossing enemy lines an awesome looking endeavor. This is far from the end of the visual improvements and they are coupled to full Dolby ATMOS support so you can hear your enemies as they knife you in the back.
