Yes, you read that heading correctly: Capcom has announced that they plan to re-release two classic Mega Man games on NES and SNES cartridges to be played on their original platforms! As with Street Fighter II, another of Capcom’s re-released cartridge titles, the Mega Man cartridge release is being handled by iam8bit.
Also be sure to check out the announcement trailer:
Both games, Mega Man 2 for NES and Mega Man X for SNES, will have a limited run of these special edition cartridges. According to sources each game will have a limited run of only 8500 copies, 1000 of which will be a glow-in-the-dark blue, and will be priced at around $100.00.
According to iam8bit’s site, the games will be release in September of this year and honestly, if the above mentioned Street Fighter 2 is any indication, won’t last long on the self.
Pre-orders are available over on iam8bit’s website so if your in the market you should probably get to pre-ordering!
