Wayforward has just released Cat Girl Without Salad on Nintendo Switch, a game so bizarre we thought it was an April Fools joke.
While a whole ton of video game nonsense was ongoing yesterday, we spotted a news announcement that was so foolish we thought it was part of the early April Fools festivities. Turns out that we were wrong. Wayforward has just dropped the utterly bizarre side scroller, Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche on Nintendo Switch. Players taking on this bright new handheld adventure can guide Kebako, a cat-eared intergalactic bounty hunter, as she patrols the galaxies with her faithful companion Squiddie in search of ridiculous space criminals. The neon tinged escapade combines 2D shoot-’em-up gameplay and a hilarious story with weapons inspired by game genres such as a puzzle, sports, platformer, rhythm, and RPG.
Honest, It’s Real
Originally conceived as an April Fools joke several years ago, the game went from outlandish idea to PC title on the Humble Store back in 2016. Now, after we forgot all about it, the title from the same team that brought us Shantae and Rive rCity Girls is back to defend the galaxy and features some of the following:
•Nonstop side-scrolling action starring an adorable, bounty-hunting cat girl!
•Collect game cartridges to wield insane weapons inspired by various game genres: puzzle, sports, platformer, rhythm, arcade, and RPG!
•A wide variety of outrageous enemies including highly requested palette-swapped variants!
•Multiphase boss battles against the universe’s most preposterous criminals!
•Ludicrous, non-interruptive character banter!
•Available for the first time on console!
•Space cow!!
Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche is available now via the Nintendo eShop for $7.99 or local equivalent. You can get a glimpse of the adventure that lies out there by checking out the trailer above or head over to the official Wayforward website for more details on Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche.
