Netflix and Capcom released a stylish set of opening credits for the Devil may Cry animate series.
While some of us were sleeping, Netflix slipped out the latest look at the upcoming Devil May Cry series. Based on the hugely popular video game franchise, the animated adventures of a certain silver haired slayer are set to go live on 3 April 2025. First, you can nod along to a stylized introduction, fuelled by neu metal moguls Limp Bizkit.
Rolling onto screens after an earlier Netflix teaser, the opening credits continue to set the stage for Dante’s latest outing. Flashy colors, pizza scoffing, and a few familiar looking faces flash by while the riffs roll out. It’s got a decidedly upstart attitude and sits somewhere between late night cartoon and stylish shonen anime., which you might expect. It even channels more than a little Ninja Turtles but that’s the cityscape and pizza talking. The upcoming animation is helmed by Adi Shankar, who executive produced Netflix’s Castlevania. Animation work goes to Studio mir. The animation outfit previously worked on the likes of X-Men 97, Dota: Dragon’s Blood, The Legend of Korra, and tons more. There’s plenty that could go sideways for Dante, but we’ve got hopes that Netflix know what they’re doing with video game adaptations by now.
For anybody who hasn’t joined Dante on his adventures, Devil may Cry is an action RPG that first released onto consoles back in 2001 for PlayStation 2. Developed by Capcom, the game introduced players to the demon hunter Dante, a charismatic and skilled warrior with a devilish lineage. Known for its exciting combat systems and stylish combos, Devil May Cry set the stage for a huge franchise. This includes including Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, Devil May Cry 4, Devil May Cry 5, and DmC: Devil May Cry. Character such as Dante’s twin brother Vergil and the demon hunter Nero eventually added themselves to the cast list, and the series continues to be relevant today.
