The Command & Conquer Remastered team is once again proving that this project is a labor of love. Producer Jim Vassella has taken to the airwaves to chronicle the team’s efforts to hunt down the original 1995 FMV (full-motion video) cutscenes to ensure that each is included in the remastered version. However, finding the original footage has not been an easy task.
While the beloved FMV cutscene footage has been found, it is in a low-quality format. As a result, the team decided that it would need to “upscale” the footage using an AI program to improve resolution, framerate, and audio. Further, developers spoke directly to the fan community to assist in the upscaling project since many have undertaken similar projects over the course of CC‘s 25-year lifespan. Vassella’s video showcases a side-by-side comparison of the original and the updated FMV.
