Cool Games to Play on the Go

Games on the Go

One of the huge advantages of smartphone evolution is that now you can play games on the go. Of course, it’s not an alien theme, as the old consoles such as the Nintendo Game Boy (okay, now we feel old) or the Nintendo DS proved just how popular gaming on the go was. However, as more and more games became available on cell phones, mobile gaming kicked off in a big way.

Almost everyone with a smartphone has a game, or games, installed on their device, something which they can play whenever they fancy. Especially when on the move. With so many to pick from, we’ve scoured far and wide to find the coolest games to play on the go. Enjoy.

The original pig destroyers

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is perhaps one of the most famous games you can play on your cell. It’s so famous that it’s spawned numerous sequels such as Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Star Wars, and even more variations of the original. The game’s premise originally was to use your collection of birds (who are angry, we might add) to destroy the green pigs on the other side of the screen.

Get your trajectory right and let them fly. Comical graphics, sound effects, and hours of fun to be had. We’re not sure why they had so many issues with swine, but there was enough anger for two movies and other genres of the game, such as tile-matching on Angry Birds Blast or the role-playing Angry Birds Epic. It was one of the most memorable games to come out on smartphones and is still hugely popular today. Even better, you can enjoy playing it wherever you are, especially if you’re still lucky enough to have the original installed. If not, you’ll still love its sequels.

Taste the candy

Candy Crush

If you haven’t played Candy Crush or even heard of it, then it’s time to lift up that rock you’ve been living under and try it out on your cell. The multi-million-dollar game is straightforward, matching the same-colored fruit to blast away the symbols in as little moves as possible. It’s a spin on Tetris but with brighter colors. And fruit. Yet it’s so compelling to play and no doubt a game you’ll keep coming back to again and again. It’s one that you can just pick up and play when you want and is perfect for keeping you entertained when on your daily commute.

Be your own Bond

Mobile Casino

Casino games are hugely popular on mobile devices. And why wouldn’t they, when you can pretend to be your own James Bond and try out some great mobile casino games, such as the latest slots and table classics? Of course, you don’t have to wear a tux; you might get some odd looks when you’re out and about playing on your smartphone while dressed to the nines.

Take care of your campsite

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

What started out as a fun game on the Nintendo (in fact on a handheld console), Animal Crossing can be enjoyed on the go when you play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Available on iOS and Android devices, this game is similar to the other iterations, in which you can interact with your campsite and other campers, perform tasks, start trading and create your own mini virtual world. Not only is this fun to play on the go to help pass the time, but it’s also something you’ll want to play whenever you get the chance to – to check up on your campsite and take part in the frequent events.

Run, run, run

Temple Run 2

Run as fast as you can around the temples with a simple swipe of your finger. That’s what you get on Temple Run. The endless runner game set the scene for all the copycats to follow, but there’s still nothing better than the original. Okay, maybe its sequel, Temple Run 2, but it’s the perfect game for some quick-fire gameplay when you’re on the bus or waiting in line somewhere. Just swipe the direction on the screen of where you want your Indiana Jones look-a-like to go, and there he’ll run. If you like this but want a bit more of an urban scene, then Subway Surfers is probably one of the best copycats.

We’re glad that cell phones have advanced to what they are today – mini playing devices (and streaming devices and music players and instant messengers!) that let us enjoy gaming on the go. There are loads of games to try, whether it’s online or downloadable in app form. We hope you enjoy our top picks.
