After what seems like the longest delay in history, CD Projekt Red has finally announced that The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen editions will be arriving in early 2022. Players can look for Cyberpunk 2077 in Q1 2022 and The Witcher 3 in Q2 2022 for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The revelation of the next-gen console release dates came during a recently released earnings report for the company.
CDPR Group President and CEO Adam Kicinski said, “We are hard at work on the next-gen version of Cyberpunk, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms. There is also ongoing work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 and the Cyberpunk expansion.”
The earnings report also details developer personnel and how individual teams are shifting from Cyberpunk 2077 to other, as-yet-unnamed projects. Last year, the majority of development was centered on Cyberpunk 2077 but over the course of the past year, personnel has been reallocated to other projects including a Cyberpunk expansion, and to “other projects”.
