Cyberpunk 2077 is almost upon us and it looks like anybody picking it up will be staring down a 43 GB Update and a separate day one patch
Getting into Night City might have something of a wait for some gamers this week. Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming RPG from CD Projekt Red that virtually everybody with a PC or console has heard of will launch on DATE with a sizeable update and a seemingly separate day one path. The news of this update dropped at the end of last week after gamers who managed to get a copy of the game ahead of the official street date found the chunky 43.5 GB update available for download already. The details of this appeared when social media users, including @Dreamcastguy left detail on Twitter, as you’ll see below.

To add a twist to the tale, it appears that this patch is not the only change coming to Cyberpunk 2077 straight out of the gate. Spotted by the eagle-eyed team at Gamespot, CD Projekt Red PR-er Fabian Mario Döhla seems to note that this won’t be a mandatory day one update, but there will be a launch patch.

The significance of this is highlighted by the ridiculously slow speeds that some households still manage to get across both the UK and US, check out the slowest we aw at a recent Uswitch poll, meaning that some gamers are going to have a lengthy break before getting the entire game as intended. While some of us can afford the cost of shelter in states like Delaware, where there seems to be plenty of spare bandwidth, according to the Money broadband housing index, it’s still going to generate some kickback to add a patch and update this early. Thankfully, if you are going to head into Night City then there’s still time to grab Cyberpunk digitally, across Xbox Series X and Series S, Google Stadia, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC and get pre loading to minimise any delay.
