Level 99 Games has announced the commencement of its Kickstarter initiative to raise $250,000 to fund the creation and distribution of Dead by Daylight: The Board Game. As the name implies, the board game is based on the wildly successful Dead by Daylight developed by Behaviour Interactive. As of this writing, the funding goal has been met and exceeded with funds currently pledged for $345,979 with 22 days yet to go.
According to the Kickstarter page, the standard edition of the board game requires a $49.99 pledge and includes 6 Killers, 7 Survivors, and 2 maps. The Collector’s Edition runs $99.99 and includes 16 Killers, 17 Survivors, and 4 maps as well as upgraded components, “and additional hook and generator miniatures to complement the game’s ambiance”. The CE will never be sold in stores and will be available in limited quantities after the Kickstarter project ends.
Between 3 and 5 players will take on the roles of the resourceful Survivors or the relentless Killer, then traverse the board to either survive and escape or hunt down their quarry. Players will be able to use special items, perks, powers, and props scattered throughout the Trial Grounds to achieve their objectives. The game balances playability and style. A large board and detailed miniatures make it easy to tell what is happening from across the table, and graphics draw heavy inspiration from the video game’s aesthetics.
