NIS America has released its latest adventure to western markets today. A distinctly eastern twist on the classic dungeon crawler, Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Darkness is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
Developed by Nippon Ichi Software, the same team behind YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, this new adventure follows the tale of the witch Dronya and her apprentice Luca. For reasons unknown, thee two masters of the magic arts make the trip into a series of miasma filled catacombs where they proceed to fight monsters, loot treasure, and uncover the secrets below.
For players taking on these challenges, the game promises a massive map and some faced paced combat. A wealth of monsters and puzzles await the two intrepid witches but they will not be the ones to face this adversity. Instead, players can build a puppet army to take on the dungeon. Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk allows individuals to build and upgrade their own puppet soldiers, granting specialist roles and abilities to each of thee dolls. With an entire brigade full of troops at their disposal, there is surely going to be no stopping you.
If you loved Guild of Dungeoneering and Darkest Dungeon but fancy something with a certain Japanese sensibility, then Labyrinth of Refrain might be worth checking out. You can find it on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and Nintendo eShop. NIS has unveiled a launch trailer if you’d like to check out more before buying, or head over to the official website.
