There be monsters in this city! Prepare to smash everything when Gigapocalypse crashes across consoles on 2 June.
Towering over the remnants of your local downtown apartment block, the Kaiju run rampant and you cackle maniacally. It’s not the latest anime, but the arrival of Gigapocalypse. Headup Games & Goody Gameworks have announced that this destroy a city sim full of giant beasts and weird monsters is set to decimate digital towns on 2 June. Crashing into PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
This retro side-scrolling pixel art adventure is clearly a nod to classics like Rampage, and even more modern interpretations like Octogeddon, but brings some of its own sensibilities to the adventure. Gigapocalypse gives players a roster of monsters, or “Gigas”, to choose from as they reduce cities to rubble to the beat of a pumping heavy metal soundtrack as they create their own monster apocalypse!
9 monsters are at your disposal for this act of wanton destruction. After each run, these avatars get more powerful and earn mutation points. As you’d expect, spending these points provides extra options and ways to smash and grab. With plenty of main run chaos to cause and even a bunch of mini-games, this looks like a decent pick for those desperate for a little mindless arcade destruction.
You can check out more over on the official Gigapocalypse Steam Page now ahead of the arrival on PlayStation, Microsoft and Nintendo storefronts.
