During the BlizzConline showcase, the developers from Blizzard have been on hand to reveal the long-coveted Diablo II remaster dubbed Resurrected. The remaster will include all content from the original game, including the Lord of Destruction expansion, and will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch later this year.
The Blizzard team had participated in an interview with IGN during which it was revealed that D2: Resurrected will support the original save files from the vanilla game. So if you still have your old Amazon, Necro or Barbarian, prepare for an epic spin!
“Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of shoved it in and it worked! And we were like, ‘okay, that’s the best feature ever’,” – Matthew Cederquist, Game Producer for Diablo II: Resurrected, said. “So yes, your local singleplayer save files will carry over.”
Lead producer Chris Lena took part in a chat with PCGamesN where he revealed that Resurrected will support some of the existing mods:
“There have been mods in the past that injected code straight into the game, and those are the kind of things that we cannot support,” he said. “But all the other mods – you know, the ones that use data and that sort of thing – we love to see those.”
In yet another interview, Allen Ahdam and J. Allen Brack have chatted with CNet.com and revealed that the company is pretty much out of things to remaster so going forward players can expect to see some new stuff.
