Diablo Immortal, Blizzard’s upcoming aRPG coming to mobile devices and PC on June 2, held a Q&A with the Game Director Wyatt Cheng over Discord. During the session, the developer answered a variety of interesting questions from the community, including the possibility of adding new classes, character slots, etc.
Previously, the developers have revealed that Diablo Immortal will feature cross-play and cross-save progression across mobile and PC. The team went an extra mile so that players could slay monsters and demons from the comfort of their home chairs. Developers have meticulously translated the finger tapping and swiping controls from mobile into the age-old mouse and keyboard. So if you wanted to see the good old left-click to move and attack while using keys for abilities and potions – all of that is in.
Additionally, the game will be featuring WASD directional controls as an additional movement tool to allow players to move while attacking. Controller support will be in as well. Now let’s get to what was covered during the Q&A:
- There will be solo elements to the game but Diablo Immortal will fundamentally feature a social component;
- The team is still working on mouse & keyboard controls and is looking forward to the community feedback during the beta to make them feel good;
- The developers will be evaluating the value of new classes vs new legendaries vs new skills since they all compete for the same development resources;
- No plans for UI scale at this time, PC tooltips will be large and need to be scrolled through since the PC UI uses the same ratio as mobile;
- Gamers will be surprised how well Diablo Immortal plays on phone;
- No plans for the API for the community at the moment, might be revisited later;
- The servers will be region-locked;
- Players will get 5 character slots on a per-server basis, no plans to sell more character slots;
- There will be a cooldown on how often you can change classes, somewhere between a week and a month (TBD);
- When you change classes, you keep your paragon, your level, item ranks but you will lose the specific legendary properties that are class-specific;
- Items are fully determined when they drop. Identifying just reveals those properties to you.
