Blizzard has thrilled millions of Diablo fans with the announcement that Diablo Immortal will be coming out in June with a simultaneous free-to-play release for mobile and for PC. The game was originally announced in 2018 to be a mobile-only title, but it appears that Blizzard has changed its mind and will be bringing the much-anticipated title to PC as well. Both the mobile and PC versions will be released on June 2, 2022.
The announcement was made during the Diablo Immortal live stream with Wyatt Cheng revealing the good news. In addition to the release announcement, Cheng also revealed a few things about the PC version:
- It will support controllers, mouse/keyboard, and allow for a WASD control scheme
- Cross save
- Crossplay so players can play on their PC, save, and then play on their phone as well.
The June release is technically, according to Polygon, an open beta but all features will be present and all progress will be retained once full release is made.
Here’s what we know about the game so far:
- a robust story and quests are included
- loot is the name of the game
- the game is set between the events of D2 and D3
- Deckard Cain will be there (of course!)
- six character classes:
- Barbarian, Wizard, Necro, Paladin, Demon Hunter, and Monk
- set gear similar to D3 will be present
