Developer Blizzard Entertainment is back with another Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred dev video. Following the Spiritborn Class discussion and Mercenaries reveal, the team turned to the new region and game features. The video is dedicated to such features as Mercenaries, Dark Citadel, Party Finder & more.
Nahantu is a region with ancient jungles and vast, sprawling planes alike. Some familiar enemies like the Lacuni make their return in the expansion, being elevated to an entire monster family with multiple classes. You will traverse this land in search of Neyrelle, who is both suffering the fate of her choice to imprison the Prime Evil Mephisto, and seeking a means to destroy him.
On your journey, you will be accompanied by Mercenaries, ordinary people that possess extraordinary skills and the iron will to fight against the demons of Hell. There are a total of four that you can collect over the course of the campaign.
Players can take advantage of the Reinforcement ability, where you can take one of the Mercenary skills and attach it to one of your powers so that, when you use that skill, it calls them in to do a specific ability. You can also push a little bit more into the Skill Tree to make the Mercenary the way you would want to play.
The team also discussed the Dark Citadel, a new co-op PvE endgame mode that will test everything you know about combat. The mechanics are based around working together with your party members to overcome challenges. You can play it with just two people, but the ideal experience is meant for four. In order to facilitate that, the team also introduced a new party-finder feature.
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is slated to arrive on October 8 to continue the story of the battle against Hatred that started in the base game with the defeat of Lilith.
