Die By The Blade Gameplay Video Reveals New Swordplay

Publisher Grindstone, as well as developers Triple Hill Interactive and Toko Midori, just dropped an in-depth look at Die By The Blade’s gameplay with a new developer video.

The brand new gameplay video from the team behind this upcoming slash em up is the first time that we’ve had a fully fleshed out look at Die By The Blade. Initially unsheathing a Kickstarter campaign for this action title just over a month ago, Grindstone has now set fit to give backers a glimpse off the combat they can expect. Taking a more modern twist on the classic Bushido series, Die By The Blade is a 1v1 slasher where you fight a range of enemies with an assortment of stabby objects in an effort to slay those who come before you and keep yourself alive. While it certainly doesn’t have the spectacle of Gearbox’s upcoming Godfall, it still seems to have generated interest all of its own, with a few twists on the normal beat ’em up genre.

Die By The Blade’s one-hit kill system emphasises the need for skill and the importance of mastering complex parry and block mechanics. This simply is not all about mashing the most combo moves. Through the latest ten minutes of gameplay, Peter Adamondy, development lead at Triple Hill Interactive, touches on the way warriors can wield weapons, blocks, stances, and chaining attacks to get the most out of your sword.

“During the Kickstarter campaign, we have had many questions from the backers and community about how the combat and the one-hit-kill system will work.” Said, Peter. “We wanted to give our community the opportunity to see how the game is progressing and to update them on our development plans. Instead of writing a blog, we decided to record some gameplay directly from our recent pre-alpha build so they can actually visualise the combat mechanics for themselves”.

This glimpse into the mechanics of Die By The Blade means anybody sitting on the fence before jumping into their Kickstarter campaign now has a better idea of what to expect, and 4 more days to pledge. Die By The Blade is expected to cut a bloody swathe onto PC and console sometime in February 2021.
