Disco Elysium Earns a Live-Action Adaptation

Disco Elysium

According to Variety, the hit RPG Disco Elysium from ZA/UM may be heading to the small screen as a television series from DJ2 Entertainment. The news does not mention a writer, network, or streaming service so it’s apparent that it is in its earliest phase of development. DJ2 did mention that it is in talks with a number of writers with the goal of pitching the idea later in 2020.

“’Disco Elysium’ is a phenomenal property with an expansive world and unlimited potential,” says dj2 CEO and founder Dmitri M. Johnson. “The dj2 team is truly thrilled about this extraordinary opportunity to be part of it all.”

Dmitri M. Johnson knows how to bring a game IP to life. He was a co-producer of Sonic the Hedgehog, currently the most successful video game feature fill of all time. He is also currently working on live-action adaptations of Sleeping Dogs and Echo.

The game was originally released in late 2019 for PC and has been widely praised by both players and in professional reviews. It took home four Game Awards and three BAFTA awards. Time Magazine named it one of the best games of the decade. The jump to television seems like a natural.

We’ll keep you posted as more is revealed.
