Discord’s Nitro Games service is a bust & closing soon

Nitro

Discord will be removing its Nitro Game subscription service after almost a year. Subscribers have been paying $10 per month that provides players with free games every month and a number of Discord-server perks to use. According to the post on the Discord site, the service will officially end on October 15th.

“Through your valuable feedback, it became clear that while we and some of you love these games, the truth is the vast majority of Nitro subscribers didn’t play them.” the blog reads.

An important thing to note is that the games are going away, but the perks offered to subscribers are not and are, in fact, becoming more powerful. Those who choose to keep the subscription service going — not for games, but for the server perks — will see new additions to perks, more features in the Go Live streaming service, and a doubled upload size. The team is actively working to find new ways to make the system more robust and fully-featured.

Those who choose to cancel their subscription will receive a refund. Customer service personnel can be reached here.

About Nitro

“Back in late 2016, we launched Discord Nitro. For a monthly price, people could support us and get some cool perks for their account. While the nuts and bolts of Nitro have changed since three years ago, the spirit remains the same: keep Discord’s core features free. Features should feel like enhancements to the core Discord experience.

And that means giving you more. More ways to express yourself and more ways to customize your experience, like uploading your friend’s face, chest, and arms as your own custom Exodia emoji set.”
