The Overlord is Dead and it is 2003 all over again. The battle for the Netherworld is about to begin anew as NIS announce that Disgaea 1 Complete Edition is bringing the Disgaea franchise back to its roots this October.
Developed by Nippon Ichi Software and originally released on the Sony PlayStation 2, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is the first installment of the massively successful Disgaea franchise. Now, players can return to the beginning of this series on 9 October when Disgaea 1 Complete arrives on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
The very first Disgaea follows the story of Laharl, a prince and the son of King Krichevskoy. This is not any normal father and son relationship, however, as Laharl is a prince of the Netherworld. After his father’s death, things start to get a heated as he sets out on an epic quest to defend his heritage from all advances. Players jumping into this modern retelling of the original RPG will encounter the same host of zany characters. Laharl is accompanied by his devious vassal Etna and the angel trainee Flonne, among others. Shiny HD graphics and a brand new Etna play mode are also available in this version. If you want to play the game that started the Disgaea franchise then you can check out the trailer, below, or find out more about Disgaea 1 Complete at the official website.
