Wonderfully melancholy and stunningly visualized. Until Then is out on PC and PlayStation now.
publisher behind the ridiculous neon western Wild B*stards and Them’s Fighting Herds has just released another stunning looking adventure with its on twist. Until Then takes the tradition of pixel art adventures and weaves an engrossing narrative that you might not see coming. Costing around $17.99 or local equivalent, this tale of teenage discovery pulls players into a fictionalized version of the Philippines and the life of protagonist Mark Borja.
A seemingly ordinary life ticks over into another year at high school. A calamity hangs in the recent past, and something more than teenage hormones seem to upset the edges of daily life. A twist of fate awaits that will change Mark’s life and things begin to unravel.
We first got hands on with Until Then during Steam next Fest. Buried I my own list of unfinished reviews, the demo does a great job of just drawing players into a wonderfully detailed world. The side scrolling cinematic experience is drawn together by fantastic writing, neat coincidences that move the story forward, and a bunch of cool mini games that re as addictive as the main title. There’s a lot of Persona peering through this indie escape, but it’s got a style and feel all its own.
If you’re looking for a unique RPG, or maybe you just don’t know yet, a freed emo is available over on Steam now. Check out more about the absurdly engrossing Until Then over on the Steam or PlayStation stores now.
