id Software made an announcement earlier this week indicating that Doom Eternal is being delayed to March 2020. The company cites the need to make sure the game “lives up to our standards of speed and polish”, hence the delay. This is a significant extension of development time as the game originally targeted November 22, 2019 for release.

The good news is that, in addition to making sure everything is up to par, developers are adding some neat new things that will be released at or near launch too. These include:
- Invasion Mode: Players can enter one another’s games as a demon to literally scare the bejeezus of their human counterparts.
- Eternal is coming to Nintendo Switch too! However, the Switch release will come after the other platforms.
- Doom 64 is coming to Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC as well as to Nintendo Switch. Anyone who pre-orders Eternal will be gifted the classic title. It will be available for download and play on March 20, 2020.
