Akupara Games has announced that survival platformer Downpour is set to get a challenging new DLC titled Rain World.
Announced just in time for the 5-year anniversary of Downpour’s release, developer Videocult and publisher Akupara Games, who brought us Behind The Frame and Gone Viral, are set to take players back to a dreich world full of ominous danger and tumultuous challenge, with a new Rain World DLC. While Rainworld might have slipped back into the gloom of the last few years for some of you, many others might remember this adventure with a lonesome slugcat. This little anamorphous creature has already braved a harsh and unforgiving wilderness, but the new Rain World DLC will introduce some friends and additional areas.

An expansion titled “More Slugcats”, which has been in development for multiple years, will be bundled into the new add on, meaning players can pick up five extra characters, each with their own unique abilities, skill set, and playstyle. As each of these wander through a dangerous landscape, they will uncover thousands of maps across ten new regions, and be able to take on a duo of new game modes.
Anybody eager to simply enjoy the vast and unyielding ecosystem that was once busy trying to eat them whole can try a safari mode. Revisit areas once explored safely through the eyes of an observer – control and play as other creatures in the game to influence the scene. There’s also a more traditional challenge mode included, which pushes players through an increasingly difficult set of wild scenarios.
