Following the release date reveal, developer Bioware had been on hand with all things Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Last week, the team announced Vows & Vengeance, a new weekly narrative podcast dedicated to the companions. For those preferring gameplay, there is also a series of new videos demonstrating combat, abilities, and more. Let’s dive right back into Thedas!
If you wanted to learn more about the seven brave souls that will accompany Rook on this new journey, you’re in luck. Premiering on August 29th, Vows & Vengeance is an eight-part narrative series that feature characters new and old. All seven companions will make an appearance.
“When the first episode airs, you’ll meet Nadia, a retired thief unknowingly working for the Dread Wolf. Nadia and her lover, Elio, find themselves in the midst of something much greater than them – a threat to the entire world – until Elio is seemingly banished to the Fade. Enter: Drayden, a writer with an interesting connection to the Fade. Drayden and Nadia team up on an arduous adventure to rescue Elio from the Fade with a little help from some familiar friendly faces.”
Here’s the release outline for the upcoming podcasts:
- August 29 – Episode 1: Featuring Nadia, Elio, and Drayden

As a reminder, Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on October 31. However, there’s still plenty to look forward to with the upcoming reveals.
However, the announcement of the new podcast series is not all that developers prepared for the community. In a new blog post titled “Lethality and Levelling”, the devs have provided insides into combat. Rook has access to three classes to choose from: stalwart Warrior, deft Rogue, or spell-slinging Mage. The new gameplay focuses on the Warrior, with Rogues and Mages getting more at a later point.
Each class has three specializations:
- Warrior: Reaper, Slayer, and Champion.
- Mage: Death Caller, Evoker, and Spellblade.
- Rogue: Duelist, Saboteur, Veil Ranger.
Veilguard features dynamic combat that includes jumps, dodges, light & heavy attacks that can be chained together. Additionally, all Classes have ranged attacks, blocks or parries, and the ability to control Companions’ combat strategy. Each Class also has two distinct weapon sets, which can be swapped seamlessly in the heat of battle.
To fell any opponent in your way, you should also keep an eye on Buffs & Debuffs, Combos & Ultimates, and much more. Check out the video below for a full combat overview featuring Warrior Rook.
