Edge Of Eternity Gets A Console launch and PC Update

Indie JRPG Edge of Eternity just confirmed a console launch of this adventure while summoning a huge update across the weekend.

During this weekend’s AG French Direct, an event to highlight French creators, the surprisingly slick indie JRPG Edge of Eternity dropped news of an upcoming console launch, as well as a teaser video for a massive C update. After an initial launch just earlier this year, Edge of Eternity is now stepping out onto PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in Q1 2022. Developer PC Midgar Studios also took time out of the porting process to update players on the new version 1.1 update.

Launching on 8 November, the latest additions to Edge of Eternity bring a ton of new systems and side quests to the world of Heryon. While the narrative core of the game might remain intact, there are plenty of new extra additions out in the open world for players to encounter as they attempt to stave off a mysterious alien force and deadly corrosion from this once peaceful realm. Once out in the open world once again, players might encounter some of the game’s new enemies, including the Valnakraai. This huge beast is the very first aerial combatant in Edge of Eternity and accompanies the Astophagos, Noir Monarch, and the Stalker in the wild. Once the newest challenges are dispatched, anybody more interested in getting to know the people of Heryon a little better will be glad to find extra dialogue added to the Inn dialogues, expanding on character interactions and providing a little more insight into the intentions behind the heroes of this ravaged world.

While Edge of Eternity may have slipped under the radar for many players, this mix of fantasy clichés, wonderful artistry, and tactical turn based battles is at least ambitious enough to grab our attention.  Following Daryon and Selene on their quest to find a cure to the all-consuming Corrosion, Edge of Eternity explores an enthralling story filled with plot twists across a wonderfully detailed environment. With a soundtrack featuring the fingers of Yasunori Mitsuda, this indie escapade is far from forgettable. Also, the in game mounts are adorable. Check out our glowing review for our full thoughts on this tale.

In addition to the obvious new enemies, PC Midgar Studio has also promised a host of additional tweaks and quality of life improvements in the free update, well in advance of the console launch.
