Elder Scrolls 6 Confirmed as a PC/Xbox Exclusive on Release

In a new interview at GQ, Phil Spencer has revealed that Elder Scrolls 6 will be released exclusively for Xbox when its time comes, though when that will happen remains to be seen. PC fans need not worry either. In recent years, all Microsoft-owned and developed titles have been released simultaneously for both Xbox and PC so, while Spencer did not explicitly state that ES6 would be coming to PC, it’s a safe bet to believe that it will.

“It’s not about punishing any other platform like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow,” Spencer said. “But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls 6. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”

The news about ES6 comes hot on the heels of Bethesda’s and Microsoft’s other huge announcement earlier this year that Starfield will be launching exclusively for PC and Xbox in November 2022.

Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2020 for a jaw-dropping $7.5 billion. The Elder Scrolls series, including the recently released Skyrim 10th Anniversary Edition, is one of gaming’s most beloved franchises and the hype for ES6 is high already without a release window in sight.
