The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced Edition, the next-generation update to the ESO universe, is being postponed for a week.
Hours ago, Bethesda pushed out a news post that made some significant changes to the release schedule for ESO: Blackwood and the Console Enhanced Edition of ESO. Originally due to come to consoles on June 8, alongside the new Blackwood expansion, the Enhanced Edition of ESO will now hit Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on now 15 June. The delay comes as Bethesda aim to give both the newest console upgrades and the expansion pack their undivided attention, with plenty of focus should things be quite as rough as the recent Elite Dangerous: Odyssey launch.
While this does mean all 12 of us with a shiny new console will have to wait to experience the upgraded graphics, and performance improvements of ESO: Console Enhanced Edition, you won’t need to rearrange your social calendars for Blackwood. Blackwood and Update 30 will still launch as planned on PC/Mac/Stadia on June 1 and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems (and backwards compatibility mode on current-gen consoles) on June 8.
Incoming Upgrades
Available as a free upgrade for existing owners of ESO, the Console Enhanced Edition was teased earlier this year and is set to massively improve the experience of adventurers. The team behind this upgrade posted a look at some of the specs in march, and players can expect 60 FPS even in performance mode, updated antialiasing, increased draw distances, better textures, improved shadows, depth of field, and much-improved loading times. Of course, that isn’t everything, but I guess Blackwood is going to need a second look to truly enjoy the newest areas in ESO. Alternatively, get on PC and grab a 30 series card, although I’m not entirely convinced that’s a solution.
