The Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test is live across PC and console for a few days.
The latest entry in the wildly popular Monster Hunter franchise is open for all big game hunters, across the next few days. Kicking off today and running until the wee hours of Monday, depending on your location, the weekend test is an opportunity for legions of players to take on a vast landscape, an dynamic environment, and hordes of magnificent looking monsters that will chew you to bits.
Players looking to try out the latest entry in the franchise don’t need to do a lot to get involved. Simple make sure you have an account on the relevant platform and head to the Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam storefronts to download, make a character and head out into the wild. You’ll be able to experience the initial character creator, a section of the early Story Trial, and the Doshaguma Hunt. During this brief excursion, you’ll defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack, explore the vast open world on your Seikret, and try out two different weapons during the hunt.
This slice of adventure includes a limited section of an unfinished game, so don’t expect it to play perfectly. We’ve already heard about log in issues, and that’s pretty standard fare for an unfinished online game. Capcom’s own webpage puts it quite directly.
The purpose of this test is to allow players to experience a limited portion of Monster Hunter Wilds and also to verify various technical aspects such as network load and overall operation prior to the game’s full release.
Thanks to that online connectivity, players can use an SOS Flare to play with other hunters online, or to call for help from NPC Support Hunters. Up to three players can hack down prey in a multiplayer scenario that even includes cross play support. There should be no lack of help, with a tunning 463,798 player peak just on Steam. If you do jump in and swing your sword, then there are rewards available. Participate in the test phase to claim the Open beta Test Bonus Pendant and a test bonus item pack that includes Mega Potion × 10, Ration × 5, Lifepowder × 5, Max Potion × 2, and Herbal Medicine × 2,
Nulberry × 2, Armor Sphere × 5
You’ll also be able to transfer your character from the test to the full game upon launch. I might even just head in to get ahead of that section.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta test runs from Friday, November 1, 2024 12:00 p.m. – 11:59 Monday, November 4, 2024 11:59 a.m. (JST). Following on from the likes of Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, the latest entry seems to be dragging the series towards a distinctly online presence. While that could be concerning, the launch of any Monster Hunter game is usually an event. Looking as good as ever and never straying too far from the core concept of kill big beasts, Monster Hunter Wilds is coming in 2025. Check out the official website for more on the Open Beta Test.
