Eve, one of the largest and longest-running MMORPGs is about to cast players out into a brand new universe of adventure as their brand new mobile title enters alpha testing this month across selected regions.
If you’ve played even one MMORPG then you’ve likely heard of Sci-Fi sandbox Eve. Developer CCP games initially released this PC game back in 2003 and it has gone from strength to strength. It is synonymous with space combat on an almost unimaginable scale. Generally considered to be the hardcore sandbox MMO, Eve is a pillar of MMO Gaming. Now China’s Netease and CCP games are ready to launch a new Eve universe on mobiles.
A New Universe
Taking place in a parallel universe of New Eden, this new Eve IP is a mobile MMO designed after the same principles that founded Eve Online. Designed using Netease’s own proprietary NeoX graphics engine, this title throws players into a gorgeous sandbox space and lets pilots forge their own path.
“CCP Games is a pioneer in space MMOs, and will make its mark on the industry even further by expanding the EVE experience to mobile with EVE Echoes,” said Ethan Wang, Vice President of NetEase, Inc. “Combining CCP’s leadership in game design with our NeoX game engine and leadership in game publishing will result in a new kind of interstellar space exploration for mobile gamers like never before.”
When Eve Echoes eventually makes it onto iOS and Android devices, players will be able to head out into space and decide if they want to forge alliances with other players or go full space pirate. Pilots will also be able to engage in interstellar combat, resource collection, industrial manufacturing, trade, exploration as well as many other activities across thousands of planetary systems. Just like in the desktop version, the future of Eve Echoes will be in the hands of its players.
