Darkpaw Games has announced Renewal of Ro, the nineteenth expansion for its venerable MMORPG EverQuest II. The announcement was made in the latest EQ2 Producer’s Letter by studio lead Jenn Chan. While not a ton of information about Renewal of Ro was revealed, Chenn promised that more will be coming in the next few months.
Here’s what we know so far, at least as far as the timeline for Renewal of Ro is concerned:
- October: Renewal of Ro beta, expansion pre-orders open. Those who pre-purchase the expansion will receive guaranteed beta access.
- November: Nothing expansion-wise but EQ2 will celebrate its 18th anniversary and participate in Extra Life. The team will be raising funds for the Children’s Miracle Network.
- December: Renewal of Ro will launch with new zones, new quests, and new adventures in Norrath. In addition, the Heroic Opportunity System will be updated for all players. According to the team, this will make “heroic opportunities fun and relevant again”.
- TBD: The Swag Store will be launching at some point before the end of the year. The goal had been September, but production delays have caused the team to rethink the shop’s launch.
More details about our next expansion are in the works so stay tuned. This about wraps it up for now except for one more thing: Thanks to all of you for all of your love and loyalty for so many years. We truly couldn’t do this without you. I’ll see you next year with a whole new roadmap for 2023!
The letter also offers players a retrospective look back at the last few months and all of the things the team has accomplished. This includes the addition of 64-bit servers and clients, Game Update 120, Oceansfull Festival updates, the 2022 expansion prelude, a gear/level up adventure, and more.
Keep an eye on the EverQuest II official site for more information about Renewal of Ro.
