Face The Galaxy In The Exodus Gameplay Trailer

Watch Travelers mug A space bear, crack a safe, save a frog, and race against time in the full Exodus gameplay trailer.

Archetype Entertainment dropped a full-length gameplay trailer for its upcoming sci-fi RPG last night, and we’re already strapping in for launch. After teasing the upcoming trailer, dropping a ton of lore, and adding an animated short to Amazon’s Secret Level series, this is the first time we’ve all had a good long look at the universe of the Traveler. The 2 minute trailer is available to watch above and details a range of gameplay features and animated story sections that will be pivotal to the look and feel of this new universe.

If you’ve been following the lore updates on the official website and delving into the recent Archimedes Engine novel then you’ll notice a few familiar entries in this two minute prelude. The gameplay trailer includes combat snippets that feature Awakened Bears, a powerful ally of humanity raised into semi-sentience by technological advancement. Generally used as combat troops, these are not the only vestiges of old Earth you’ll notice. Sentient frogs evolved Celestials, and humanity still travels the stars. While the narrative is entirely original, there’s plenty of Mass Effect in this gameplay teaser. Beyond the gunfights across ancient worlds, you’ll note the use of Celestial tech looks a lot like Biotic from the hit franchise. Even the music makes a familiar tone or too. That’s no surprise. The team behind this epic looking RPG is full of ex Bioware developers and crammed with AAA pedigree.

Where Exodus differs is in the execution. Taking the role of a star faring adventurer, players guide their Traveler on an epic journey to explore the universe. They are on a hunt for technology and secrets long lost or simply stolen that might help their human world. In a galaxy where some survivors of old earth settled and evolved into powerful Celestial dynasties, disparity is rife. Some only survive by heading out into the void. It’s not all ftl and sci-fi shenanigans, however. Moving at near light speed warps time, meaning Travelers’ decisions can have huge consequences at home, outside the effect of time dilation. It’s an ingenious concept that we’re hoping ends with a hit for Archetype. If you’re enthused by the Exodus full gameplay trailer too then head over to the official website now to find out more.
