Fallout 76 devs detail Wastelanders update & Steam release

Fallout 76

The latest Fallout 76 “Inside the Vault” update has been posted by developers, this time focused on the keenly anticipated Wastelanders update and when players might be able to play the game on Steam.

Starting with the fastest news, players can look forward to playing the game on Steam. Sadly, Bethesda has announced that FO76 won’t make 2019 as originally planned. The team wrote that its release on Steam has been pushed “it closer to Wastelanders release in 2020”. While this sounds all well and fine, there is still no release window for Wastelanders so there’s no telling when the game will finally debut on Steam.

Speaking of Wastelanders, the letter shows off a few screenshots starting with two characters that players will meet early on: Duchess and Mort. Players will encounter the pair in the new instanced starter location called Wayward. It’s a “fledgling watering hole not far from the Overseer’s C.A.M.P.”

“Duchess and Mort are just two of the many people and characters you’ll meet during your travels after we’ve released Wastelanders. One of our main goals with this update isn’t just to add NPCs to push your story forward, but to help Appalachia feel much more alive now that people are making their way back into the area.”

Lastly, players looking for a bit of holiday cheer when it comes to Mystery Picks will be pleased to hear that the Purveyor will be on hand from December 24th through December 31st. “In exchange for 60 Legendary Scrips, the Mystery Pick will give you a completely random 3-star legendary item.”
