Ubisoft have prepared something for the weekend and unlocked Far Cry 6 for free until 7 August.

Far Cy 6, the latest installment in the iconic series of FPS adventures from Ubisoft, is going free to play for the weekend. Giving gamers across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Stadia, and Windows PC the opportunity to blow away some of the week’s stress in an explosive new attempt to take down Antón Castillo’s regime.

Players looking to pick up and play Far Cry 6 for free will have full access to the latest in this series, with every free downloadable content published to date, all playable together in co-op. Trigger happy revelers will be able to log in, download and team up with friends to save Yara, blow up everything in sight alongside Danny Trejo, and engage in guerilla warfare against some nameless ne’er do wells.

For those that have somehow missed the Far Cry franchise, this narrative driven FPS has been plunging players into hostile jungles and putting them at the end of a loaded barrel since 2004. The 2021 installment in this series finds players exploring the island of Yara, a tropical island ruled over by the aforementioned tyrant Castillo. Along the way you’ll not only blow up some bad guys, but touch on themes of fascism, imperialism, and freedom. While watching everything explode.

If you want something a little less incendiary, then Far Cry 6 announced a Photo Mode contest, starting today and ending on 12th August. To participate, players worldwide can use the photo mode feature to post an in-game photo, video or GIF that best captures their “summer vibe” across social channels. The prizes for this look likely to be Far Cry merch and graphics cards. If you’re a keen photographer, head to the official website for full contest details www.FarCry6.com/Contest.

For the rest of u, you can grab Far Cry 6 for a free play period on your official console storefront, the Epic Store, or Ubisoft Store.
