Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023.
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series is set to leap PCs and onto consoles. The reinvented and much-loved title will to bring a classic entry in the Final Fantasy library to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023. All the magic of the original pixel playthroughs will make its way to a new audience with a huge range of quality-of-life upgrades, graphical improvements, and control changes.
Starting with the very first, Final Fantasy I, where players must become the Warriors of Light and restore four magic Crystals, this lineup of 6 iconic entries will be available to buy as individual chapters or as a bundle. Whether you decide to jump in and chase adventure on a Chocobo or experience a real-time Active Time Battle system, this makes for hundreds of hours of playtime.
Physical Edition
Square Enix has also confirmed that a limited physical edition of Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster -FF35th Anniversary Edition will release. Available exclusively through the Square Enix store for both console systems, this includes:
- Final Fantasy I-VI Collection.
- Anniversary Edition GOODS BOX.
- A bonus lenticular sleeve for the game package.
- A vinyl record set featuring newly arranged game music on 2 records with exclusive cover artwork by Kazuko Shibuya.
- An exclusive artbook showcasing FINAL FANTASY character pixel art.
- Eight stylized pixel art character figures in window packaging.
Releasing between 2021 and early 2022 on PC, this remaster project reworked a host of the RPG genre’s most influential titles. With remodeled 2D aesthetics the aim was to provide players with an experience that harkened back to New and SNES adventures, without the need to go hardware hunting. Now console owners will once again be able to hear the opening notes of Nobuo Uematsu’s work and experience material that still has influence on up and coming RPGs today, such as Brown Dust 2.
