It seems like just yesterday I put the newest Final Fantasy into my PlayStation 2 and turned it on for the first time. Final Fantasy XI has hit the big 2-0. I played it for a hot minute though, opting to play the single player titles like 7, 8, and 9 because it made more sense on a console at the time.
With the 20th anniversary we see a patch that will update Vana’diel’s player base with new tasks to complete. The May update includes a couple of important things.
The Voracious Resurgence includes Chapter 8: part 1 of the most recent story. The beastmen have begun to hear whisperings of despair and they are afraid of a possible future in misery. There are new foes in Ambuscade battles including Pteraketos and Mamool Ja. The final item is the May Login Campaign. It is running already from May 10 to June 9. Players can receive rewards based on logging into the server each day to collect their points. This month includes a Noble Chocobo mount.
Composer Naoshi Mizuta has created a new version of the Vana’diel March for this update as well. If there is one thing I love, it is Final Fantasy music in any form.
