Ready for one final fight out on the streets of downtown? Today players can indulge their 80s throwback beat ’em up tendencies with Final Vendetta.
Developed by Bitmap Bureau, the legendary development team that brought you retro-inspired cult classics Xeno Crisis and Battle Axe, Final Vendetta is a modern take on a genre classic. Taking tons of inspiration from games like Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and more this new adventure follows some kick ass action as players make their way through a dangerous urban sprawl to save the sister of central character Clair Sparks.
With a simple scenario, Final Vendetta puts players firmly in control of come kick ass warriors, including include Londoner bare-knuckle boxer Duke Sancho, Essex martial artist Claire Sparks, and wrestler Miller T. Williams – each with their own unique move sets and special moves. AS this experience rolls from left to right, emulating the side scrolling arcade cabs of old, players can spar in either solo or co-op mode, taking out a range of nefarious minions and taking down some tough as nails bosses. If you’d rather something competitive, then you can always boot up into some Player versus mode action too.
Along the way, there are 6 distinct zones, all decorated in the same retro aesthetic as the characters, and a banging soundtrack that happens to include four tracks from chart topping Utah Saints. It’s all very Halycon hero and Amstrad action and comes at the perfect time for anybody looking for a follow up to the incredible TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. While it may be Bitmap’s first foray into beat ’em ups, this side scrolling brawler is hot enough that publisher Numbskull Games is offering it up digitally on PC (Steam), Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 & 5 for £22.49 / $24.95. there are also Three different physical versions are available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 & 5 including the Standard Edition for £34.99 / $44.99, Collector’s Edition including OST CD, stickers, and collectible cards for £49.99 / $64.99, and Super Limited Edition that includes the aforementioned plus an artbook, poster and barrel USB keyring for £74.99 / $99.99.
