WoW Classic has snapped up one of the MMORPG genre’s most experienced veterans as part of its ranks. Former longtime EverQuest producer Holly Longdale has posted to her LinkedIn page that she has joined Blizzard Entertainment “to focus on World of Warcraft Classic“. Longdale worked on both the EverQuest and EverQuest 2 MMOs for over a decade as a producer and was instrumental in driving the “classic” experience in both. What exactly her job will be on the Classic team remains to be seen.
Longdale announced her departure from Daybreak Games’ subsidiary studio, Darkpaw Games, about a month ago with no word what her next steps in the industry would be. Darkpaw Games is continuing its work on the EverQuest franchise and has at least one unannounced title in the works that many speculate is the next in the EQ series. At the time, many considered her departure odd. Darkpaw is currently helmed by Jennifer Chan.
We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Longdale’s involvement in WoW Classic and what her future with the game means.
