In a new post on the official Friday The 13th: The Game forums, Gun Media Lead Community Developer Matt Shotcha announced that the game’s dedicated servers will be taken offline after the next and final patch. In addition, Shotcha announced that the forums will be closed, though they will remain available in archive form as a player resource.
The community can take heart thanks to a series of further announcements.
- Players who own the game will still be able to play using peer-to-peer matchmaking in Quick Play lobbies.
- Database Servers will remain online to keep track of player progression and unlocks.
- Gameplay will still be functional through peer-to-peer Quick Play and Private Matches.
- New players will still be able to purchase the game and play through the methods mentioned above.
- The Double XP/CP/Tape Drop Rate bonus will remain in place indefinitely.
The patch that will go live in November will also be the final patch for Friday the 13th: The Game. The team has been hard at work completing fixes for a long list of player issues to include in that final patch, and the community can expect finalized patch notes to be released in the week prior to the patch going live.
